there are cops in the driveway
demanding i return the daughter of a rich man
who i've taken hostage tonight
but i won't until they meet the demands that i've made
no i won't til they seem sympathetic to my cause
so i'll scream "what if she were a poor girl,
and her daddy hadn't a dime."
they responded "we'd care just the same."
the officer replied "as if she were mine."
so i ask you to keep that in mind
the next time this occurs
the love for a daughter from a father
should not be quantified by the powers that be
and i'll gladly hand her over
